Johnny the Bull vs. A-Wall
Flashback Match of the Week
[1/9/03]
By: Jake Butikas

From an edition of WCW Thunder, 2001...

I know, I know ... Johnny the Bull vs. The Wall ... but trust me ... it's got some funny moments.

Pamela Paulshock is the ring announcer ... why didn't the WWF ever pick her up?

Anyway ... the match starts out with A-Wall (or rather, Sgt. A-Wall) hitting Johnny with a kendo stick. The dreadful trio of Mike Tenay, Stevie Ray and Tony Sciavone are on commentary--they inform us that this match is a Hardcore tournament.

Johnny gets the kendo stick goes to swing it at The Wall and ... it flies out of his hand and bounces off the ropes. The fans laugh and Johnny looks mad. He picks up the stick and breaks it over The Wall's head in about three swipes. The Wall rolls out of the ring, bleeding already--mere seconds into the match.

Next, one of those tin trashcans comes into play.

A-Wall waffles The Bull with the can a few times then grabs a table and sets it up inside the ring. Sciavone tells us that the table is The Wall's "trademark."

Wall goes to bring Johnny back in the ring and it smacked with the trashcan. Keep in mind, The Wall is barely bleeding at this point.

TBS edits out Stevie Ray as he speaks of how stunned A-Wall is after that trash-can-shot.

Johnny comes off the top towards the stunned Wall but gets caught in a chokeslam.

A-Wall goes for the chokeslam ... NO!

He goes for it again ... NO!

Finally, the third time, A-Wall gets Johnny up in the chokeslam through the table.

Tenay says, "He tried to fight it off the best he could."

Stevie Ray says, "He was trying to block it."

Translation ... Johnny was sandbagging.

A-Wall gets the pin, turns around and is a bloody mess.

TBS goes to all black-and-white and the ref hits the ring with a towel and covers up "The Sarge's" face.

Scott Steiner's music hits ... he and Midajah storm the ring. Steiner hits The Wall and The Bull with "The Lead Pipe" before confronting the announce table.

Stevie stands up to defend his announcing buddies and receives a shot with the bendable lead pipe for his efforts.

This undoubtedly lead (no pun intended) to a classic confrontation between Scotty Steiner ("The Genetic Wonder" as he calls himself during this segment) and Stevie Ray.
