This was one of Coliseum Video's WWF "Best of" superstar series which came out in the mid to late 1980s and features a brief historty of Jake "The Snake" Roberts.
You'd have to be a Snake fan to truly enjoy this tape, however even fans of Roberts may be disappointed with the content. Of all the matches in this 2hr. collection, Roberts only wins one match (which was against Scotty McGee).
But despite that fact, many of the highlights are classics--from the concrete-floor-DDT on Ricky Steamboat at Saturday Night's Main Event to the infamous guitar-shot by the Honky Tonk Man.
Best match of the tape--Roberts vs. Steamboat at the Boston Gardens. Other matches include Roberts vs. Junk Yard Dog, King Kong Bundy, Kamala and Honky Tonk Man from Wreslemania 3.
The interveiws are typical Roberts--dry humor and quintessential wrestling psychology.
When Jake appears on the long defunct USA's TNT wrestling talk show, he has a variety of caged snakes that he tours with the "unnerved" Gene Okerlund and Lord Alfred Hayes. Okerlund acts jumpy as Jake taunts the snakes and descibes their "mortality rate."
"These are vipers..." explains Jake. "Now, what's interesting about these fellas here is ... the mortality rate ... (if you are bitten) 95% of the time you won't live. What a great system, huh? That way you're not a loser for sure."
And on this early TNT interview, a feud with Hulk Hogan is overtly alluded to ... a feud which was apparently supposed to evolve but never did.
