"The Fabulous Moolah: First Goddess of the Squared Circle" by Lillian Ellison and Larry Platt

I actually believed this book would be a decent read. Unfortunately, the term "fabulous" cannot be used in any form or fashion when describing "The Fabulous Moolah."

There is probably a reason behind the idea that we have seen very little publicity for this book on WWE programming.

Where to begin? First (and most annoying) ... this book is written as a work which is rather frustrating and odd considering the current era in wrestling. It only makes the author look silly when discussing matches as if they were pure reality. She doesn't give the reader much. Basically, this book is a bland read with occasional praise for Vince McMahon.

Secondly, I wonder where the co-author came into play because ... well ... the writing is not only sub-par but there is no continuity or flow. Moolah seems to jump around without rhyme nor reason. The publishing industry is a tough business to break into (such as wrestling) and it is disheartening to see individuals getting published who shouldn't be getting published (such as wrestling). This is an example of a book that should have been re-worked, re-tooled and turned into something decent.

Thirdly ... "World Wrestling Entertainment." Now, I don't know the actual story but this is my guess. And I'm betting it's a pretty damn good guess. The WWF changed their name to the WWE ... and an editor (probably someone who had no knowledge of wrestling) went through this book with the "FIND" option and entered "Federation." Any point in time when "Federation" was used, they automatically changed it to "Entertainment." How degrading when Moolah describes her "World Wrestling Entertainment" Women's Title reign from the 1950's to the 1980's. And how frustrating for knowledgeable readers who have to read "World Wrestling Entertainment" when, in actuality, the WWE name has only been around for a few months.

I respect Moolah ... however, I cannot believe how bad this book was. "The Fabulous Moolah" actually makes previously un-readable wrestling books seem ... good.

One thing is for certain. Moolah can bump better than she can write.
