From the WCW Superstar Series ...
This tape was only $1.99 at Meijer ... so why not?
Video starts out with the old nWo "Paid Announcement" ... you know, that guy with the cool voice.
Essentially, this is three years of the nWo in 55 minutes ... narrated by everyone's favorite annoyance, Eric Bischoff.
The tape contains sporadic "work" interviews with Buff Bagwell, Steiner, Hogan, Nash, etc.
Matches are in highlight format.
--Hall & Nash (at the time, "names unknown") vs. Randy Savage, Sting & Lex Luger at Bash at the Beach 1996 ... typical, lame Michael Buffer ring intros ... Hogan joins comes down, attacks Savage and forms the nWo with "This man Hall and this man Nash."
--Highlights from Nitro of the nWo forming...
--Uncensored 1997 ... Piper's team vs. nWo team. Our friend Buffer supplies the intros ... Hogan, with help from Savage and Dennis Rodman, pins Lex Luger.
--They show the nWo parody of the Four Horsemen.
--1997 Fall Brawl ... cage match with "War Games" between the 4 Horsemen and the nWo ... Curt Hennig joins the nWo and slams Ric Flair's head in the cage door while wrestling's MIA Steve McMichael cries in the background.
--Starcade 1997 ... Sting vs. Hogan. Hogan pins Sting after a leg drop (which was supposed to be a "fast count"--alluding to the WWF's Survivor Series screwb job of Bret Hart which took place two months prior--but wasn't). Bret knocks down Referee Nick Patrick (who always takes a bump with his arms straight up in the air), restarts the match ... moments later, Sting wins the world title by submission.
--April 1998 ... Savage wins the world belt from Sting after Nash helps.
--nWo problems between Hogan and Savage.
--More problems ... now between Hogan and Nash.
--The Wolfpac forms...
--Hall vs. Goldberg ... from Nitro ... Goldberg beats Hall to secure a shot against Hogan later on ... the match is nicely edited to avoid the "drunken spots" by Hall.
--Goldberg beats Hogan for the world title.
--Bash at the Beach 1998 ... Hogan & "Rodzilla" (shudder) beat DDP and Karl Malone. Bad stuff, even in highlights.
--Road Wild 1998 ... Hogan & Easy E. vs. Jay Leno and DDP. Even worse stuff ... even in highlight form.
--Highlights of The Easy E. show...
--Hogan retires to run for President...
--Jan. 19th 1999 Nitro ... Nash (world champ) lays down for Hogan ... new nWo Wolfpac forms.
Show ends. No mention of the Horace Hogan lead nWo Black & White ... and justifiably so.
Ironically, Scott Norton, featured prominently on the box cover, is not even mentioned during this tape.
So ... was nWo 4-Life worth that $1.99? That answer is still in debate...
