Drop Kickin' It Old School Review

Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling ... what kid who liked wrestling didn't watch this show?

Damn ... it seemed pretty good at the time. But now ... well, that's a different story.

Volumbe one consists of two stories ...

The first features the gang of "good guys" (who all hang-out together in a crummy clubhouse but never seem to wrestle) accidentally drink a medicine made by Hillbilly Jim. The result--they all turn into children. But don't worry--they change back but not before the kid-wrestlers catch some bad guys.

Live scenes feature Mean Gene interviewing Captain Lou (in the bathtub with a rubber duckie) and Roddy Piper helping a blonde chick start her car.

The second episode swipes a premise used in countless shows--cartoons and live action--before ... the face and heel factions are all on a cruise together. Imagine the wackiness there. But anyway ... while on the cruise, one-by-one, they all vanish and we're left with Hogan and Piper to save their buds.

Live action--Mean Gene interviews Piper as he defaces a poster of Hogan.

Many cartoons from that era were bad--this one is really bad. Even wose, regardless of the live action segments featuring the actual wrestlers, not one wrestler did a voice for the cartoon. Even little kids could tell that the voice of cartoon Piper didn't match the voice of the Piper they just saw in live action segments.

Even weirder--cartoon Hogan had hair.

Imagine this cartoon in recent years--Steve Austin, The Godfather, Goldust, Val Venis and Mae Young would be my first choices to see in cartoon form.
