From FCI games, 1994 ... WCW SuperBrawl Wrestling ...

Without question, this game is sad in comparison with today's wrestling games. But ... if memory serves correct, this game was pretty sad back in 1994 when it came out.

The game is bland with, even by 1994 standards, bad graphics and flow. There are 12 wrestlers on this game, most seemingly were not even with WCW in 1994. Each wrestler is accompanied with a slogan or catch-phrase which sounds when either you select your wrestler or deliver his finisher. Oddly enough, (1) the wrestlers, for the most part, obviously didn't supply their own voices for the game and (2) most of these catch-phrases were never uttered by the guys in question. Below is a roster complete with funky slogans...

Barry Windham ("Invinsible"), Ron Simmons ("Show me respect!"), Ricky Steamboat ("Who deserves the belt?"), Johnny B. Badd, Rick Steiner ("It's not my fault!"), Scotty Steiner ("Coming to get you!"), Brian Pillman, Sting, Ric Flair, Rick Rude, Vader and Dustin Rhodes ("No Second Chance!")

The game play is awkward and boring. First, all the wrestlers--aside from finishers--have the exact same moves. Definately different from today. All matches are in 3 falls in that you have to beat your opponent three times in a row to win. Why do these old games always alter the standard "wrestling rules?"

The graphics are painfully bad ... many guys (like Flair and Rhodes) look almost identical. Tony Schiavone's face occasionally pops on the sceen and speaks ("BAM!") but like Simmons and the Steiners, it's obviously not Schiavone doing the talking.

Other oddities ... the audience sounds like a frustrated vacuum cleaner ... no music ... fast counts by the ref ... Steve Austin is shown multiple times in actual photos but his character is not available on the game itself.
